Post-Holiday Wrap-Up

I've now had my Dacor Epicure dual-fuel range for over two months, through all of the holidays. From Thanksgiving through New Year's, I cooked pastries, pies, breads, roasts, vegetables, muffins, and more in the oven. And I boiled, sauteed, grilled, fried, and steamed countless other dishes on the stove top. From a cooking point of view, this has been my best holiday season--every dish was a joy to prepare on my top-quality equipment.

Moreover, I've found the range incredibly easy to clean, so I've been able to keep it looking like new.

I love my Dacor range and recommend it to anyone looking for a high-end kitchen appliance.

The Difference is in the Details

I'm really starting to appreciate more and more of the little details that, together, make my Dacor range so great. As an example, let's review the knobs that turn on and off the stove top burners.

  • Illuminated burner controls -- When I was first researching my range, I thought that this was just a marketing gimic, but they are very useful. It's easy to see at a glance and from a distance whether or not any burner is on just by looking at the blue light.

  • Automatic ignition -- My previous gas stoves required me to turn the knobs all the way to the "ignite" position, wait for the ignition, and then turn the knob back to my desired position. With my Dacor range, there is no "ignite" position. I just turn the knob immediately to my desired cooking position and it automatically ignites. (In fact, according to Dacor, if the flame goes out, it will re-ignite on its own.) This is a minor thing, but it's just another example of their attention to detail

  • Perfect simmer -- One of the biggest annoyances of gas stoves is trying to lower a flame to the minimum simmer, and then turn the knob just a little too much and the flame goes out. With my Dacor Epicure range, this never happens. Dacor designed the knobs such that the shut-off position is next to the max flame position rather than the simmer position. So, to simmer, I can quickly turn the knob all the way clockwise and it stops right at the minimum simmer. I never have that hassle now.

I'm still relatively new with my range, but have been cooking and baking for for a few weeks on it now, and really love it. Moreover, I'm still marvelling at all of the little details that they put into their design.

New Dacor Epicure 30" Dual Fuel Range Installed

Using the griddle on the Dacor range

My new Dacor Epicure 30" Dual Fuel Range was finally installed yesterday. I haven't cooked on it yet, but did spend some time reading the guide and getting familiar with the different controls and cooking modes. As my installer told me as he was finishing up, "This is some beautiful range!" It's hard to remember all of the little details that go into a premium product like Dacor's until you see it in your own kitchen. The full-width grates, the light-up controls, the fully extendable racks, the easy-clean drip pans, and many more are all very cool.

Baking bread in my new Dacor oven

Tonight I will give it a dry run and see how it performs. I haven't decided what I'm preparing on the burners, but homemade bread and brownies are going into the oven.

New Dacor Dual Fuel Range Arrived

My new Dacor 30-inch dual-fuel range just arrived--the delivery man brought it into the garage this weekend. I just finished talking to the installer who should come out next week to do the job. That should give me more than enough time to get used to it before Thanksgiving.

I selected Dacor's Epicure range because Dacor seems to have a strong focus on all of the details that make a high-end kitchen appliance attractive--the powerful burners, the quick-heat heating element, the ease of cleaning, etc.

After it is installed, I will be writing about how well the Epicure 30-inch dual-fuel range lives up to my expectations.

New Dual Fuel Range

It's been many years since I've cooked on top of a gas stove. I love cooking and am a very good one, but for the last ten years I've had to cook on an electric range. Although I've gotten used to it, I've always wanted to get back to gas. I recently ordered a dual fuel range and it should be delivered in the next couple of weeks--in time for the holidays.

I'm looking forward...
